In December 2022, I was involved of a run of Laura Wade’s ‘Alice’ directed by Alan Fenn. This contemporary retelling of the classic Lewis Carroll novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’ begins in the real world with the funeral of Alice’s older brother who died in a car accident. The story explores her grief and the subject of loss and healing through a cacophony of bizarre encounters with the many wacky characters that live world of Wonderland.

In this production, I had the absolute joy of playing Tweedledee, Dormouse and a whole host of other characters. For me, this show was packed with action from start to finish as I was almost constantly on stage, only ever leaving for the quick changes that weren’t possible in the wings. My role involved a huge amount of prop work, improvised comedy, moving of set pieces and even singing whilst playing a song on the ukulele. I had the best time (accompanied by my very organised speadsheet!) in this topsy turvy run!

“Some star turns were evident: the grinning Cheshire Cat (Kelly Davidson) and Tweedledee and Tweedledum (Alexandra Vickers and Daisy-Mae Sweatman) were among my favourites.” Nick LeMesurier
