In March 2025, I was very lucky to be involved in a short film to raise awareness for ‘Doctors in Distress’, a charity dedicated to the mental health and well-being of healthcare professionals. They provide a range of supportive services including counseling, peer support networks, and educational programs which all aim to raise awareness, acknowledge and address the emotional stress and pressures faced within such emotionally and physically demanding roles. Their goal is to create a safe space for healthcare workers to discuss their struggles and seek help without fear of judgment, ultimately allowing doctors prioritize their own health and enabling them to better serve their patients.
My role involved stepping into the shoes of a nurse and her daily experience. In a script that highlights the emotional toll of the profession and the emotional complexities that come with caring for others while often neglecting oneself, I was able to explore some of the many silent battles faced behind the scenes. Through my character, I was able to convey the compassion and resilience in the medical field, while also shedding light on the toll that can take on a person, particularly in times of crisis.
Participating in this short film was not just an acting role but an opportunity to be a voice for many healthcare workers who do struggle in silence and show the need for the work that ‘Doctors in Distress’ do. It was a privilege to be involved in this project and surrounded by so many people who passionately care about the cause. I hope our film resonates with viewers, showing the importance of mental wellness in the medical community and why this kind of support is so needed.
